Does ControlRooms.ai replace a DCS or Historian?

ControlRooms.ai leverages the investments already made in a Historian and/or DCS. The software augments existing systems, integrating seamlessly with several of the most common DCS and Historian systems deployed in plants today.

What if I don’t have a DCS or Historian, can ControlRooms still work in my plant?

Yes! ControlRooms can read data directly fromPLCs, quality systems, environmental systems, etc. Anything with a networkconnection can be brought into ControlRooms.

How is ControlRooms.ai different from a data analytics platform?

ControlRooms surfaces anomalies in theirinfancy to stop subtle deviations from becoming big issues. Data and analytics tools help analyze and investigateincidents after an event has occurred in the hopes of preventing a similarissue in the future. Moreover, existing platforms rely on your engineering teamor external experts to run complex and time-consuming analytical queries. WithControlRooms, our AI does most of the work for you, out-of-the-box. Operators,Engineers, and other frontline teams use ControlRooms as an early warningsystem to take quick action to prevent issues in the moment.

How is ControlRooms deployed?

ControlRooms connects to an OPC server in yourDMZ (physical or virtual machine, OPC license included in subscription). TheOPC server in the DMZ maintains separation from operational systems andlevarages encrypted one-way communications via MQTT to the Azure cloud. Thesystem auto-scales to handle hundreds of thousands of tags and multiple datastreams.

How is my plant data secured?

Security is built into all stages of theprocess. All data is one-way read-only in our system. Credentials are stored inencrypted vaults and rotated regularly. SSL encryption keeps data in transitsecure and encrypted. Customer OT data is 100% isolated on dedicated datapipelines and databases.

Do I need to install any hardware such as extra sensors or PLCs?

No! ControlRooms leverages existing telemetry.Tags may be added or removed as you update your hardware.

Is this an LLM or large language model?

It is not an LLM. LLMs have gained inpopularity lately– we do not leverage them. Our solution leverages abreakthrough in time-series AI.We do not commingle your operational data (likemany LLMs do) – we learn from your data only, and only you benefit from yourown data. In other words, your data is never mixed, used, or leveraged to trainmodels for any other clients.

Do you build specific failure models or asset-specific model libraries?

We do not. We believe modeling specificfailures and building asset-specific libraries to be suboptimal. Mostexperienced operators will tell you, successive issues are rarely identical.“Fool me twice..” We therefore, model your normal state of operation– and allit’s fluctuations– and flag only issues deemed truly anomalous. This allows usto provide broader coverage of your facility and reduce systemic risk.

What if I lack time or resources for a new tech project?

Deployment of ControlRooms is much quicker andeasier than typical IT/OT software implementations. Minimal resources arerequired to go live. ControlRooms can get up and running in your plant in aweek, so you realize value in days, not months.
